Trina Christensen grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and began exploring music at the age of 5 when observing her friend’s Suzuki violin lessons. At the age of 8 she began to play the violin studying traditionally through orchestra in school and later converting to the Suzuki Method when studies began with Esther Larsen. She has received Suzuki teacher training from Jeanne Grover, Ed Kreitman, Linda Fiore, Allen Lieb and Bill Starr. She truly believes that every child should have the opportunity to learn music and offers a discount program for those that cannot afford the full price of lessons. She has witnessed the magic of Dr. Suzuki’s mother-tongue method from working with her three oldest children who have been learning the violin and viola. She has been actively involved in the Suzuki Association of Utah serving as publicity chair, Salt Lake south violin region chair, on the Celebration Committee in 2001 and 2004 and as President for three years. Trina was the Director of Operations and Finance for the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute from 2005-2022. She is currently the Director of Sistema Utah, a free after school music program for under-resourced families in addition to teaching private violin students. She and her husband Jeremy are the proud parents of five children Hannah (violinist), Gavin (cellist), Aiden (violist), Collin (trumpeter) and Kallie (pianist).
