Tanya Hambourg comes from a musical family. Her great grandfather and grandfather were both pianists as was her great uncle, Mark Hambourg, who was internationally known and can be heard on Youtube. Tanya’s father is a violinist and was her first violin teacher. Tanya is certified to teach Suzuki violin through book 5. Her teachers include Teri Einfeldt, Stevie Sandven, and Ronda Cole. At age 6, she participated in a violin Masterclass with Dr. Suzuki. From Boston University, she received her BM and MM in Viola Performance studying with Raphael Hillyer, Steven Ansell, and Michael Zaretsky. She has performed with numerous orchestras in the Boston area. In addition she has performed in the backup string sections of such artists as Rod Stewart and Smokey Robinson. She has taught the Suzuki Method for 19 years. Her teaching experience includes teaching Suzuki violin and viola for the Whitinsville Christian School strings program and at the Creative Arts for Kids School in Reading, MA. She also taught in her own private studio in New Orleans, LA where her students participated in the MTNA Gold Cup Festival, all of whom earned a superior rating and each year one or more of her students performed in the Honors Recital.
