Tanya Hambourg comes from a musical family. Tanya’s great uncle was the world famous pianist, Mark Hambourg. Her father was a professional violinist and her first violin teacher. Tanya grew up in Oregon. She started learning the violin at age 6 via the Suzuki Method and at that time also played in a masterclass with Dr. Suzuki.

Tanya earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Viola Performance from Boston University where she received a Director’s Award. Tanya has 24 years experience teaching the Suzuki Method. She is currently teaching Suzuki violin and viola at the Nevada School of the Arts. Tanya is gifted in teaching young students how to play the violin beginning at age 4. Her Suzuki Teacher Trainers include Stevie Sandven, Teri Einfeldt, Vera McCoy Soulentic, Rhonda Cole, and Karen Kimmet. Tanya’s personal teaching mission is to encourage the joy of music in each student and to provide excellent instruction.
