A devoted and multi-faceted teaching artist, Ms. Pavia is adept at all ranges of artist development, from beginner to collegiate preparation and repertoire. Emphasizing beautiful tone and keen intonation, her students have gone on to study at at institutions including Oberlin Conservatory and the Berklee School of Music, and have won numerous concerto competitions.

Ms. Pavia is Co-Chair of the String Department at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and is director of the Talia Pavia String Academy in Illinois.

Talia Pavia received a Master’s degree in Music Performance and the Performer’s Certificate from Northern Illinois University, studying with international soloist Shmuel Ashkenasi. She received numerous awards and scholarships including graduate fellowships from both the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the NIU Graduate School to pursue her violin studies. Ms. Pavia trained in NIU’s coveted Graduate String Quartet Residency program as a member of the Alla Corda Quartet. During this residency, she received intensive coaching with the highly revered and Grammy-nominated Vermeer Quartet.

Ms. Pavia has toured both nationally and internationally in chamber music festivals including the Zeister Musiekdagen in the Netherlands. At the Green Lake Festival of Music, she performed in a lecture seminar by former Chicago Symphony Orchestra Composer-in-Residence Augusta Reed Thomas. Her chamber music interpretations have been called “remarkably sensitive and mature” by John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune. She has been a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, training orchestra of the Chicago Symphony and concertmaster of the NIU Philharmonic. A versatile artist, Ms. Pavia performs with classical, jazz, and pop ensembles such as Camerata Chicago. Over the course of her performing career, she has played on stage with renowned artists including the incomparable fiddler Mark O’Connor and jazz vocalist Kurt Elling. Ms. Pavia has played under the baton of world-class conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Pinchas Zukerman, and Pierre Boulez.
