Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees in music education from Holy Names College, Oakland, CA /studied Suzuki Violin pedagogy with Sister Therese Cecile Murphy. Dr. Suzuki came with students to the high school where I taught during the mid-1970’s. Participated in numerous piano and violin workshops in Oakland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Ashland, Oregon since 1970. Observed and apprenticed 10 years with piano master teacher Merna Thomas, workshops for Suzuki piano and violin with Elizabeth and Harlow Mills, Connie and William Starr, Doris Koppelman, John Kendall, et al. / Teaching piano since 1967, violin since 1970. Experience with all levels and ages, taught music and directed music departments in elementary and secondary schools in both Los Angeles and the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area, directed school and church choirs, worked in Adult School and extended education music programs in Oakland and in Humboldt County, California. I have been teaching private piano and a few violin lessons in my home studio in Humboldt County, California since 1996…to the present. I am certified by the Suzuki Association as a teacher for all levels of piano and in the early 1970’s was certified through San Francisco State University to teach beginning violin Levels 1-3. / *Currently as of 1 Feb 2022 I am not taking students in person, but because of the Pandemic I am only giving lessons over ZOOM.
