Mrs. Susan D. Mutter

Mrs. Mutter has been playing piano and French horn since childhood. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University. As a hornist she has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony, the Detroit Opera Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony. She has Suzuki training up through Bk. 5 in piano and has been teaching Suzuki Piano for over 30 years. She studied piano with Dr. Rebecca Happel of Oakland University, and has taught students through all 7 Suzuki books. She began teaching autistic children piano in 2006, and she now has over 45 students, 5 of whom are autistic. She also teaches French horn, music theory and keyboard skills to students preparing for professional careers in music. She was Assistant Director at Suzuki Royal Oak’s Carnegie Hall performance in 2010. Also, as a Suzuki parent of 3 children, she has enjoyed seeing her own children grow up to play well and to love music!
