Susan Mahony lives in Monkton, Vermont with her husband in the home they built some years ago. Her two daughters are grown and flown. She loves tending her large garden, hiking, and making music – singing, playing violin and guitar.

She has been a life-long violinist with 16 years of study including five years at a summer-long music camp and three years of study as an adult. She enjoys performing solo on special occasions, in chamber groups, and in local orchestras. She also has played in string bands and loves playing for dances. She completed a full career as a Vermont public school educator, teaching all regular subjects from Pre-K to 8th grade.

In 2012 she started her encore career as a Suzuki violin teacher. She completed Book 1 Suzuki Violin training in the summer 2012 at Hartt School of Music, University of Connecticut. Then she taught two years of violin group classes starting with four-year-olds and continuing with them as five-year-olds. This was in Middlebury, Vermont at the Mary Hogan School. The children were very successful and she had a great time. In 2014 -2015 she started her private studio. During the summers of 2015-2017 she fulfilled three trainings: Book 1 (a second time), and Books 2 and 3 with master teacher Mark Mutter of Suzuki Royal Oak in Detroit. She is open to students from age 4 up to adult and levels from beginners up to Suzuki Book 4.

She loves violin and music and teaching and students!
