Sophie Chalk was born in Taiwan and studied piano performance under Gabor Rosza and John Luxton at the Canberra School of Music of Australian National University. Since graduation, Sophie has travelled the world to study under many influential pianists and teachers. Among these are leading concert pianist Ruth Slenczynska, world-renowned Suzuki teacher trainer at Holy Names University USA Caroline Fraser, and the founder of Suzuki Early Childhood Education Program Dorothy Jones.

Sophie specializes in Suzuki piano pedagogy and early childhood education and she truly believes that beautiful music comes from a beautiful soul. Like Dr Shinichi Suzuki once said: “beautiful tone, beautiful heart”. One of Sophie’s goals is to nurture the next generation through music and provide children with the foundation to grow into sensible, fine, and noble human beings.

She is now a lifetime member and certified teacher of Suzuki Association of Americas (SAA) and Australia (STEAA), Kodaly Music Education Institute of Australia (KMEIA) and board of director of Suzuki Talent Education Association of Australia (NSW) and has taught workshops in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Perth, Taipei, Oslo, Bay Area and the recently the 1st Suzuki Convention of Americas in Cancun, Mexico and the 35th Suzuki International Music Festival in Lima, Peru.
