Violinist Sooji Oh had begun her musical studies at the age of ten in Seoul, S. Korea. Three years later, she had made her successful debut with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at the Concert Hall, Seoul Arts Center in Korea. Ms. Oh had continued her studies in the United States at the Pre-College Division of The Juilliard School under Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang. Throughout her career, Ms. Oh had participated in the Aspen Music Festival for many years where she had performed at the Music Hall, the Opera House, and the Music Tent. Ms. Oh had actively performed at prestigious concert halls such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center and internationally in Nagano, Japan and in Salzburg, Austria. Furthermore, she had performed regularly in various chamber music concerts with members of the New York Philharmonic, the New York Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera and the Princeton Symphony Orchestra.

During her decorated professional career, Ms. Oh had captured several key awards, including first place prizes at the Monthly Music Times Competition, the Five Town Music Competition, and the Grieg Festival Competition. She was also the recipient of various student scholarships, including the M.D Douglas Memorial Scholarship and the A.H. Kuhn Memorial Scholarship.

Ms. Oh had received her Bachelor of Music in 2000 and Master of Music in 2003 at The Juilliard School. Upon graduation, Ms. Oh had served as a teacher’s assistant to Dorothy DeLay’s scale class at The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division. Subsequently, for a period of 15 years, she had served as the founder of Sooji Oh’s Violin Studio and the Director of The Laus Hall in Cresskill, NJ. In this role, she had taught many students, organized music festivals, masterclasses and concerts with reputable groups including Escher String Quartet, Lark Quartet, Chiara String Quartet, among others. Recently, Ms. Oh had moved to Chicago’s suburbs and had formed a chamber group, Klesis Chamber Ensemble, where she continues to perform regularly as a guest artist at the De Paul University in the Community Music Department as well as Make Music in Chicago.
