Shaughn Dowd

Shaughn Dowd graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Crane School of Music at the State University of NY College at Potsdam. Her primary teachers include Murray Panitz (past principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra) and Toshiko Kohno (former principal of the National Symphony). Ms. Dowd has been a flute instructor for over 20 years and in 2012 began her journey to become a registered Suzuki Teacher. She has trained with Toshio Takahashi, Laurel Ann Maurer, Deborah Kemper and Laura Larson. In addition to teaching, Ms. Dowd enjoys a performing career as a soloist and chamber musician in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area. Ms. Dowd maintains a Suzuki flute studio in Vienna, Virginia.
