I began studying the violin at age seven with Suzuki teacher Janet DeTemple in Pullman, Washington. In 2006 I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. During my undergraduate studies I participate in Suzuki teacher trainings in Washington, Utah and Wisconsin. After graduating I lived and worked in Guatemala for three years, performing, conducting, giving lecture recitals in schools, and teaching in a music conservatory in the city of Quetzaltenango. During the 2011-2012 school year I taught violin privately and in public schools in Bellingham, WA. In August 2012 I received a Masters in Arts Education from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C. My thesis work involved applying the Suzuki Method to visual art education. I recently married and moved to Redmond where I am building a thriving music studio.

I am deeply committed to the Suzuki philosophy of character development through music education. Having grown up as a student of the Suzuki Method, and through my experience as a teacher, I feel confident in the power of the Suzuki Method to develop children’s character, sensitivity, and ability to learn while simultaneously providing a rigorous music education of the highest caliber.
