Sharon Miller lives and teaches in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia. She teaches violin and viola lessons for children and adults in Eastern Mennonite University’s Preparatory Music Program where she was the Program’s Director for nearly 30 years. During that time she helped to forge a partnership with Harrisonburg City Public Schools in order to provide string education in curricular and extra curricular classes. She also started and conducted the Junior Strings ensemble at EMU.

In addition she teaches at Suzuki summer camps and Institutes. A registered Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer, she has led teacher workshops throughout the United States and in 2020 had the privilege of working with Latin American teachers at the Suzuki International Festival in Lima, Peru. Mentoring young teachers is one of Sharon’s passions.

When she’s not teaching, Sharon enjoys performing in area ensembles, traveling with her husband, and spending time with her extended family.

Ms. Miller was first exposed to Suzuki education in the Lynchburg City School system while studying music education at Liberty University. She received her M.Ed. (music) from Towson State University and M.M. (Suzuki Pedagogy) from East Carolina University.
