Originally from Maryland, Sarah Weltman is a cellist currently based in the Denver area. As a passionate educator, Sarah offers private cello instruction to students of all ages. With over fifteen years of performing experience and an affinity for the Suzuki Method, she strives to enrich and expand each of her students’ lives.

She holds a BM in Music Industry from James Madison University and is a member and registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Over the years Sarah honed her craft with the support of cellists Jilby Cheston, Kerry Van Laanen, Dr. Carl Donakowski, and Dr. Beth Cantrell.

As an educator, Sarah believes in providing a well rounded approach to learning music. While lessons will focus on creating a beautiful tone and healthy technique, students will also explore the lives of composers’ and gain an understanding of the form and theory in their music. Students will regularly listen to and discuss performances as they learn to articulate what they hear and observe in music.

Positive reinforcement teaching style is the most effective way to foster intuitive, kind, and passionate musicians. Lesson structure and pace depend solely on the needs and goals of the individual student. While Sarah uses the Suzuki method and books, she also uses a variety of resources that effectively structure a well rounded curriculum.

As a lifelong learner, Sarah is constantly growing in her own playing and pedagogical knowledge. Music is continually evolving and she believes it is our duty as performers and educators to continue to grow with it!

When Sarah is not teaching, she performs regularly for special events, weddings, and with local ensembles. Outside of music, Sarah enjoys exploring nature, spending time with her dogs, and practicing yoga!
