Violinist Sarah Cecilio is a native of Winnipeg, Canada and currently maintains a vibrant teaching studio with students ages three through adult. She offers flexible lesson options including online lessons and online group classes in addition to in-person meetings. Ms. Sarah teaches using the Suzuki violin curriculum, the FiddleQuest curriculum, and integrates music theory into her lessons and group classes using the Music Mind Games system.

Ms. Sarah holds a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance, a Master of Music degree in Violin Performance & Suzuki Pedagogy, and a Master of Art degree in Arts Management. Her Suzuki teacher trainers include Joanne Bath, Kimberly Mier-Sims, Ed Kreitman, and John Kendall. In addition to her violin teacher training, she has also completed Music Mind Games teacher training with the founder and creator, Michiko Yurko, the Teach Music Online training for virtual music lessons by Carly Walton, and FiddleQuest teacher training with founder Duane Whitcomb.

Ms. Sarah has been actively teaching since 2004 and in addition to consistently maintaining a private studio she has taught in various public school violin programs and was formerly the Director of Suzuki Outreach for East Carolina University. She has worked at Levin Music on the Suzuki Violin faculty teaching private and group classes, and additionally assisted in their summer camp programing and curriculum development. She has worked as a teacher and chamber music coach at several summer music programs, including the “Pre-College Summer Academy” at the Lamont School of Music in Denver, CO and “Strings the Thing” and “Fiddle Week” at the Penticton Academy of Music in British Columbia, Canada.

As a performer Ms. Sarah has been a member of the Takoma Ensemble and has played with many groups in the U.S. and internationally, most recently traveling to Brazil to coach and perform with groups from the University of Brazilia. She is a former member of the Fayetteville (NC) Symphony Orchestra, and performed regularly with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra (IA) and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra (IA). She continues to perform collaboratively on local, seasonal concerts designed for listeners (and performers!) of all ages and musical backgrounds.
