Sarah Boren is on faculty with the Javaux Music School in Quincy, Illinois where she serves as the harp and piano instructor for Quincy’s first Suzuki music school. Sarah is passionate about the Suzuki method and its focus on developing “noble hearts” through the study of music. Sarah holds a Master of Music in Harp Performance from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she studied with the Philadelphia Orchestra’s principal harpist Elizabeth Hainen, and a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory in Wheaton, Illinois where she studied with Faye Seeman, principal harpist for the Chicago Sinfonietta and long time principal harpist with the Joffrey Ballet. Sarah has completed Suzuki training with Mary Kay Waddington, founder of the Suzuki harp method, and Joan Kryzwycki, prominent piano teacher trainer and recent Chair of the Suzuki Board.

Sarah’s teaching career has included serving as an adjunct music professor at John Wood Community College, directing the Philadelphia based Temple Music Preparatory Harp Ensemble, and teaching at several festivals including the Birch Creek Music Festival in Door County, Wisconsin, the Saratoga Harp Colony in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the Young Artist Harp Seminar in Rabun Gap, Georgia.

Since relocating to Quincy Sarah has maintained a busy performing schedule taking part in many Sunday Music Series concerts, accompanying for the Javaux Music School’s performances, and appearing with the Augustana Oratorio Society, the Quincy Symphony Orchestra, the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Southeast Iowa Symphony.
