A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Ryan Donohue began his studies as a Suzuki student at the age of three at the encouragement of his mother, a professional violist. He attended high school at Cincinnati’s School for Creative and Performing Arts, received his bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the University of Cincinnati: College-Conservatory of Music, and has participated in renowned music festivals, such as the Pacific Music Festival, Opera in the Ozarks, the Kent/Blossom Music Festival—a partnership with the Cleveland Orchestra—and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. From 2018-2020, Mr. Donohue took part in the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra’s Cello Fellowship; he has also has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Charleston Symphony, and the Jacksonville Symphony, among many other groups.
