Cellist Rosa Thompson-Vieira, a native of Minneapolis, graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BM in Cello Performance, studying under Tanya Remenikova. She has participated in master classes by renowned artists such as Peter Wiley and Marc Destrube. Rosa has also studied under Allison Wells at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Tony Ross of the Minnesota Orchestra and chamber music coach Bruce Coppock.

Rosa has had a passion for music ever since she began playing the cello at age 6. After playing her instrument for more than 20 years, Rosa has performed with local musicians in a variety of venues including the Dakota Jazz Club, Icehouse and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. She performs often for church services, private parties and weddings. Not only does Rosa enjoy performing in a large variety of venues and atmospheres, she also has a passion for teaching. Rosa teaches a wide variety of ages and skill levels. She has studied the Suzuki method with Jean Dexter, and currently teaches a mix of Suzuki and traditional teaching methods. She believes that teaching is a creative process and that each individual student has their own unique way of learning. Rosa is dedicated to getting to know each student and working with them to find the most successful route to reaching their goals and needs.
