Robert Vierschilling earned Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in classical guitar from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon graduation he was invited to become a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, a national honor society in music. In addition to studying classical guitar and Suzuki teaching, Robert has taken general music education courses, including those in the Kodaly approach.
His teaching experience includes private lessons, group classes, chamber music coaching, basic music theory classes, and high school guitar class. Students have ranged in age from preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school, and adults. He has been teaching Suzuki guitar for over 14 years, and classical guitar to children for over 25 years. He currently maintains a roster of approximately 25 Suzuki guitar students and 10 adult classical guitar students.
Robert’s Suzuki guitar student ensembles have performed at numerous venues including Bayview and Hearthstone Retirement Homes, the Espresso Buono and Neptune Cafes, the Seattle Classic Guitar Society (SCGS) Holiday Concert, the Northwest Guitar Festival at the University of Washington, the Suzuki Association of Washington State (SAWS) Fall Festival at Central Washington University, and the Nordstrom Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall. Robert’s students often perform individually and with confidence at their schools, family gatherings and other public venues.
Robert teaches at Rosewood Guitar in Seattle, and is a member of the Suzuki Association of Washington State (SAWS) board of directors.
