Ms. Lester will be on faculty teaching violin and viola with the String Project at UT, headed by Dr. Laurie Scott.

Ms. Lester taught in the greater LA area for three years, before recently moving to Texas. Rebecca has completed the training for Suzuki books 1-3 in violin. She took book 1 with Sherry Cadow at the Los Angeles Suzuki Institute, and books 2 and 3 with Charles Krigbaum at DFW WOW. She is establishing a private studio in Austin, TX, as well as teaching for the string project.

She believes strongly in creating a positive teaching environment that also challenges the student to their best potential. Rebecca is particularly passionate about injury prevention and guiding students towards more relaxed playing.

Rebecca started playing the viola at the age of nine and studied privately with Michele Nardone for eight years, serving as her teacher’s assistant for 2-3 years. From 2009-2013, Rebecca was a part of the Palos Verdes Regional Symphony Orchestra as the associate principal violist. In 2011 and 2015, she participated in the Los Angeles Orchestra Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. In 2012, she also performed as a soloist in Zipper Hall at The Colburn School for the Suzuki graduation. From Fall 2013 to Spring 2017 Rebecca was a member of the Azusa Pacific University Symphony, serving as principal violist for the recent school year.

Rebecca has also had an active freelance presence the past four years, playing for recording sessions, weddings, parties, and more. Recently, she recorded tracks for two films, “A Question of Faith” and the independent movie “Caul Unknown.”

Ms. Lester actively pursues educational experiences in both teaching and performing. In 2015 and 2016 she attended The Next Festival of Emerging Artists with a group of 20 excellent musicians. Last summer the festival performed and recorded with renown guitarist/songwriter Richard Thompson on his song cycle based on the diaries of WWI soldiers. In 2016 she also attended the Montecito International Music Festival where she studied with Roger Myers.
