Rebecca (Appert) Kaltz is known as a dedicated performer and teacher. She has played with many local orchestras in the Michigan area including the Saginaw Bay, Battle Creek, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Adrian, Lansing, Ann Arbor and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestras.
Rebecca has been actively teaching violin lessons for the past fifteen years, and received her Bachelors degree in Violin performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2004. She also did two years of graduate work with Piotr Milewski there as well. For her Suzuki pedagogy training, Mrs. Kaltz has studied with Pat D’Ercole, Martha Shackford, Linda Fiore, Mark Mutter and Terry Durbin and attended several John Kendall Workshops in Ann Arbor. She loves teaching and working with children of all ages. Making music is fun and so rewarding in many ways!
She also has extensive experience playing for opera and musical theatre genres, as well as recording studio experience with various types of music such as rock, jazz, Celtic and folk, in both voice and violin. Rebecca is the owner and lead violinist of the Horizon String Quartet, www.horizonstringquartet.com, and enjoys playing with her Celtic band, Foxtree. She joined the faculty of the Ann Arbor Suzuki Institute in February 2011. Rebecca is also the Director of the Ann Arbor Fiddle Club, which she founded in 2015.
