Raven Underwood is a violinist and music educator. She sets out to explore the many facets of violin performance, including: classical, classical Indian, pop-folk, contemporary, and meditation music. As a teacher, Raven combines the Suzuki Method with developmental psychology and Ivan Galamian’s teaching methodology to promote a learning environment that is both approachable and enriching for the young student. Her studio contains violinists from age 2.5 to 17. Raven teaches both privately and through Primavera Place Suzuki School, directed by Kathleen Spring.

Raven has attended several music festivals, including Interlochen, Le Domaine Forget, Interharmony Italy, Montecito, and Rocky Ridge. Raven has appeared in master classes with Vedim Repin, Midori, Brian Lewis, Vedim Gluzman, and Paul Kantor. Determined to shift the paradigm of violin performance, Raven has collaborated on several non-traditional projects. As a performer, she appears on albums with the bands Manon Ward and The Northern Empty, and she also presents all-female composer performances to further introduce women composers into the violin canon. Raven is currently working with Dr. Chappell Kingsland in Electric Athena, performing virtuosic covers of Pop and Rock music. Raven holds a Bachelor Degree in Violin Performance, as well as a Suzuki Violin Pedagogy graduate certificate from Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
