Rachel started teaching music lessons nine years ago under the direction of her mother, Angie Horman. Since then, Rachel has found her life’s calling in teaching and is passionate about nurturing a love for music in every student. She enjoys working with students’ parents as a team to help every child reach their full potential. She is excited to become a Suzuki-certified teacher and incorporate his philosophy into her teaching!

Rachel currently studies viola with Julie Edwards of the Utah Symphony and is working under Marshall McDonald as co-class president of the Institute Singers. She has performed in various groups, including the University of Utah Philharmonia with Dr. Robert Baldwin; chamber groups at the U of U under the direction of Dr. Hasse Borup, Dr. Kasia Sokol-Borup, Leslie Henry, and Dr. Blanka Bednarz; and Young Artist Chamber Players under Jack Ashton.

Outside of music, Rachel enjoys skiing, reading, spending time with her family, and eating cheese.
