Rachel Butherus-Violin

Rachel Butherus was raised in Greeley, Colorado, where she started playing the violin at age 5 and went on to receive her undergraduate degree in Violin Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, studying under Richard Fuchs and Margaret Soper- Gutierrez. She moved to Flagstaff in 2016, where she received  a Master of Arts Degree in Suzuki Pedagogy from Northern Arizona University, studying with Louise Scott and Karin Hallberg.Rachel has performed many prominent pieces from the violin repertoire including the Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Barber violin concertos as well as winning and performing as a finalist in concerto competitions across Colorado and Northern Arizona. Rachel has toured with orchestras and played in chamber festivals across Italy, Germany, England and the Czech Republic. She plays with the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, the Arizona Philharmonic, and is serving as the concertmaster of the Verde Valley Sinfonietta.Rachel also enjoys performing chamber music around Northern Arizona with The Skylight City String Quartet. When she is not busy with her music, either performing or teaching, Rachel enjoys baking and practicing the skills she learned as a certified pastry chef from Auguste Escoffier School of Pastry Arts.
