Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Philip Ledgerwood is a private violin teacher in Denver. He holds performance degrees from the University of Minnesota and Texas Tech University, where his doctoral research focused on developing a music theory teaching sequence based on the repertoire and structure of the Suzuki Violin School. He has attended numerous Suzuki Summer institute programs, and has studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Nancy Jackson, Ann Montzka-Smelser, Kathy Wood, and Sharon Miller. His primary violin teachers are Sally O’Reilly, Dr. John Gilbert, and Lewis Rosove.

Prior to his position with Suzuki Strings of Denver, Dr. Ledgerwood served as Director of the Ramirez Elementary School Suzuki Program in Lubbock, Texas, as a violin instructor with the Roscoe Wilson Elementary School Suzuki Program in Lubbock, and also as a teacher with the Suzuki Talent Education of the Lubbock Region program. He is also an active performer and chamber musician. Philip is a co-founder of the Elysian Quartet, which served as the Graduate String Quartet for two years at Texas Tech University. With the Elysian Quartet, he performed throughout Texas and Oklahoma, including in numerous educational outreach concerts to dozens of local elementary schools in West Texas.
