Mrs. Paulinka De Rochemont
Violin, Viola Teacher
Born and raised in Holland, I studied violin at the Conservatory in Amsterdam. Then I was invited to study with Michel Samson (student of Ivan Galamian, class of Perlman and Zukerman) at the University of Louisville, KY on a Full Tuition Scholarship for my Masters of Music degree, which I received in 1989. I was then asked to teach Suzuki violin in the preparatory department at U of L and have taken short-term teacher training with Margery Aber, Michelle Higa- George and many others including Bill Preucil for Book 6 viola, and had a wonderful year of long-term teacher training with Hiroko Driver, student of Shinichi Suzuki himself.
In the year 2000 I moved to Rhode Island to start teaching at The Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic until 2015. i now teach most of my students at Roberts Musical Instruments at 687 Quaker Lane, West Warwick, RI 02893. This is a very friendly and welcoming place and I am happy to teach there.
I am an active member of the Chopin Club, Chaminade Club and Henschel Club and frequently perform on both violin and viola.
I do enjoy playing chamber music a lot, have my own string quartet and play concerts various times a year with them around Rhode Island.
I have been a lifelong spiritual seeker and strife to be the best I can and do the best I can.
