Ms. Odile Meister
Odile moved to Wrangell, Alaska in 2014 and started Stikine Strings, a private Suzuki violin studio which welcomes kids and adults of all ages. Her plan is to reach more kids by creating a low cost after school strings program at the local elementary school. She would like to see access to strings education increase greatly in Southeast Alaska. Previously she had a thriving private studio in Nevada City, California where she taught for 7 years. Her teacher training has primarily been with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and she has completed Books 1 to 4 and Book 6. In addition she completed the Mark O’Connor Violin Method training in 2010. She has experience teaching violin privately to children as young as 3 years old since 2007 and has also taught group fiddle classes at the Nevada City School of the Arts. She has performed in California with the Sierra College Symphony, Twin Cities Concert Association (Orchestra Panache), and the Auburn Symphony. In addition to teaching the violin, Odile is a trained Music Together instructor and an Orff-Schulwerk music educator. She has taught elementary school classroom music at Nevada City Elementary School and Nevada City School of the Arts. Odile has a Bachelors and a Masters in Education from Stanford University. During her time at Stanford, she enjoyed being a member of the Stanford Symphony Orchestra and participating in their tour of Japan, Singapore, and South Korea.
