Nina Black began teaching piano as an intern while in college, then opened her own studio soon after. She joined the Modesto Suzuki Association piano faculty in 1986. Nina has produced and directed recitals, musicals, concerts and workshops, as well as serving as a church music director and organist. She plays several other instruments, including Celtic harp.
She served as manager and artistic director of Golden Bough (internationally acclaimed touring and recording group) from 1992 to 2005 where she wrote and received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Western States Arts Federation and California Arts Council. In 2002 she was awarded the Western Arts Alliance Connors Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Touring and Performing Arts, and as served as clinician and speaker for California Arts Council, Western Arts Alliance and Arts Northwest.
