Hi there, My name is Moriah Swindell and I am a Suzuki violin teacher. I started playing the violin when I was 9 years old in my school orchestra and shortly after started taking Suzuki lessons with a teacher from my church. My lessons with her for 9 years and only switched to another teacher when she stopped teaching. I studied with my second teacher for about a year to prepare for college auditions. She also gave me the opportunity to teach lessons to my first student by having me teach a student from her orchestra class. I really value the time that I spent with both of these teachers.

These studies led me to earn a degree in Music Education from Campbell University. During that time, I taught private violin lessons with the Dunn School of Music and started my journey as a Suzuki teacher. After earning my degree in Music Education, I moved back to hometown of Greenville, NC and earned a Masters degree from East Carolina University in Music Performance witha concentration on Suzuki Pedagogy. I also earned Suzuki certification for all 10 violin books through this program. This experience not only honed my violin performance skills, but gave me a lot of opportunities to teach private lessons as well as group classes and improve my skills as a teacher.

Since earning my Masters, I have moved to the Northern Virginia area and am currently teaching in three private music schools (Levine Music, International School of Music, and Etudes Music Studio) as well as on my own. I currently have students in Fairfax and South Riding in addition to my schools.

If you are looking for a teacher in these areas, please feel free to contact me via email ([javascript protected email address]) or my cell phone (252-824-4192). Happy playing and learning!
