Cellist Monroe Randall (they/them) is currently a master’s student in performance at Boston University. Their most recent teaching experience comes from an El Sistema program in the Berkshires, Kids 4 Harmony. Emphasizing the importance of being a well-rounded musician and person, they completed a dual degree in Music and Social Thought & Political Economy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, with a minor in gender studies. As a teacher, Monroe’s guiding values are starting students carefully and patiently as to teach physical release and ease, as well as giving students tools and exercises that are easy to recreate by themselves and apply to whatever musical challenges they face. Prior students have said they found new excitement and patience in practicing under Monroe’s instruction.

As a performer, Monroe has freelanced around New England, been first desk in University ensembles, as well as participated in varying summer festivals and programs such as Domaine Forget at Charlevoix, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, the International Cello Institute, and Stringwood Chamber Music Festival.
