I’m Mikayla! I am a wife, mom to 2 and of course, a violinist! I’ve had a love for music for as long as I can remember. I took private violin lessons all through middle school, high school, and college. I had the opportunity to take private viola lessons for a semester (in college) as well. I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Brigham Young University-Idaho in April, 2020. I was taught by Dr. Dallin Hansen, who is truly an amazing teacher and performer.

I focused on pedagogy classes throughout my college years and learned how to teach the Suzuki method. I have been teaching violin and viola for 9 years and I have taught over 80 students, ranging from 5 years old to 50 years old. I teach beginning levels (my favorite to teach!) through advanced levels. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do and I enjoy sharing my love of music with others.

I also love to perform in symphonies, quartets and as a soloist. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to sit as first chair in the symphony and was able to perform Vivaldi and Mozart concertos with the orchestra. Throughout college, I had the opportunity to be in multiple quartets, duets, and even an octet. I performed in the BYU-Idaho Symphony every semester and participated in solo violin recitals every semester as well. I’ve also had the opportunity to play in the Mason Symphony Orchestra and play in multiple gigs for weddings and other special events.
