Michaela Sandness, a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, received her undergraduate degrees in music and French from St. Olaf College. While completing a Master of Music degree at the University of Northern Iowa, Michaela obtained her Suzuki teacher training from Nancy Lokken, Susan Kempter, Nancy Jackson and Ann Montzka Smelser. Michaela is Suzuki certified in books 1-4 as well as Suzuki Early Childhood Education. Her former teachers include John Fetter, Therese Fetter, Charles Gray, Frederick Halgedahl, and Peter McGuire. Michaela now resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband and daughter where she maintains a private Suzuki studio and plays in several local symphony orchestras. As a longstanding member of two quartets and a current member of the Kalliope Trio, chamber music is an integral part of her playing and teaching.
