Mrs. Megan Van Gomple is a violinist who specializes in teaching the Suzuki Method as the owner of Vivace Suzuki Violins in Norfolk, Virginia. She completed her long-term Suzuki training at the Hartt School of Music with Teri Einfeldt and Linda Fiore and has done countless hours of continuing Suzuki education and violin study with many educators including Charles Krigbaum, Daina Volodka Staggs, Susannah Klein, Carol Tarr, Terry Durbin and James Hutchins.
Mrs. Van Gomple’s students have won many honors including solo opportunities with orchestras throughout the Hampton Roads area. Her students can be found in all levels of the Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia, Hampton Roads Chamber Players and at the Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk. She also directs the Vivace Ensemble, a multi-level advanced violin group made up of Suzuki students from around the area.
A native of Illinois, Mrs. Van Gomple serves her community as concertmaster of Symphonicity, the Symphony Orchestra of Virginia Beach and performs regularly with the Virginia Symphony. Mrs. Van Gomple has also appeared as a soloist several times with Symphonicity and at her alma mater Valparaiso University. She has been a dedicated teacher in the Hampton Roads community since 2008.
Mrs. Van Gomple has a Masters of Music in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from The Hartt School of Music In Connecticut and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Valparaiso University in Indiana.
She lives in Norfolk with her husband Ryan and is Suzuki parent to her son Silas. In her free time she enjoys reading, cheering on the Brewers, and traveling with her family whenever possible.
