Mary Anne Olmsted-Kohls

Started taking violin lessons through Suzuki method at 5 1/2 years. Took piano lessons at age 9 with traditional method. Through middle-high school years, was involved with school orchestra, strolling string group, pit orchestras and a youth orchestra. Started taking violin lessons at a higher level at age 14 through Concordia College, Moorhead, MN.

Graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with BA degree in K-12 music education. While at college, I studied violin all 4 years, piano 2 and voice, 2. Was also actively involved in college orchestra and Fargo-Moorhead Symphony.

After graduation, was employed in the public schools for 5 years. In 1988, left public school teaching and started “Die Kinder” Music Studio in Hutchinson, MN. Have been teaching Kindermusik and Suzuki violin and piano lessons, since. I also teach one day a week in my home in rural Litchfield, MN.

I have received SAA training in Every Child Can and Suzuki Bk. 1 A & B.

I am actively involved with two area groups—the Crow River Area Youth Orchestra and the Glencoe Community Strings.
