Mariya Miles-Flynn is a music educator, cellist, and conductor who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education (B.MUE) with a specialization in Cello Performance from the University of Dayton (2020), where she served as the Assistant Conductor of the University of Dayton Orchestra. The recipient of the University of Dayton Department of Music Senior Award for Outstanding Contribution to the University Orchestra in 2020, Miles-Flynn was a conducting student of Dr. Patrick Reynolds and led the orchestra in numerous concerts before receiving a conducting fellowship to the prestigious Girls Who Conduct Mentorship Program in 2021.

Born in Vietnam and raised in the United Arab Emirates by parents devoted to supporting their children’s engagement in the arts, Miles-Flynn began her musical studies at the age of seven in Abu Dhabi, where she studied a wide range of wind and string instruments, as well as voice. Focusing her musical education during middle and high school on her cello studies, Miles-Flynn performed in numerous orchestral and chamber music concerts, as well as in master classes and recitals, before being accepted  to the University of Dayton on a four-year, undergraduate orchestral scholarship. Her principal cello teachers were Gwyneth Bravo in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Alice O’Neill in Cincinnati, and Shelbi Wagner at the University of Dayton, where, additionally, she studied voice with Dr. David Sievers. Having completed her undergraduate studies in the USA, Miles-Flynn recently returned to UAE, where she was hired at the American Community School in Abu Dhabi as a Music Intern. As a certified Suzuki Cello Teacher (Every Child Can, Book 1 and Book 2), Miles-Flynn is committed to creating a supportive learning environment for all her students and will be offering cello lessons.
