Ms. MaeLynn Arnold
MaeLynn Arnold began her life as a violinist at the age of six under the instruction of her mother. She went on to study at the Oberlin Conservatory with Marilyn McDonald at the age of ten and made her solo debut that same year as a soloist with the Northern Ohio Youth Orchestra. She received both her Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Music degree in violin performance from Boston University. She has studied with Milan Vitek at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Ani Schnarch at the Royal College of Music in London, Ivan Chan of the Miami String Quartet, Bayla Keyes and Peter Zazofsky at Boston University College of Fine Arts. Ms. Arnold has performed in master classes for such renowned violinists as Andres Cardenes, James Buswell, Christian Tetzlaff, William Preucil, Lucie Robert, Charles Castleman, Lewis Kaplan, Andres Cardenes, and Stephen Clapp.
Ms. Arnold was the first place winner of the 2010 Tuesday Musical Scholarship Competition in Akron, OH, and has performed as soloist with the Lakeland Civic Orchestra and the Toledo Symphony. In April 2009, she participated in the Internationale Junge Orchester Akademie performing on tour in Germany.
Ms. Arnold has attended such festivals as the Lucerne Festival Academy (2015), the Deer Valley Music Festival (2015), Spoleto Music Festival USA (2014), the Duxbury Music Festival (2011), International Music Festival (2010), Opera de Bauge in France (2008-2009), Kent Blossom Music Festival (2007), Boston University Tanglewood Institute and quartet workshop (2005-2006), Credo Music Festival(2002-2004), Kinhaven Music School (2001), Indiana University Summer String Institute (2000), and Interlochen Summer Arts Academy (1999). She was also on the faculty for the 2012 Duxbury Summer Music Festival Preparatory Division.
Ms. Arnold is currently the concertmaster of the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Max Hobart, and also performs with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Cantata Singers, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of Indian Hill, and the Marsh Chapel Players. She has played under conductors Michael Tilson–Thomas, James Conlon, Pierre Boulez, and Franz Welser–Most.
In 2000, Ms. Arnold founded a trio with her sisters, Strings of Gold (www.stringsofgold.com), performing in concert and public outreach settings. They performed together for over a decade and produced three recordings- “Soundshades”, “Injoy”, and “Echodreams”- which feature several arrangements created in collaboration with their mother, Cara Arnold.
Ms. Arnold plays as first violin of the Denovo Quartet (www.denovoquartet.com). The quartet was invited to participate in the 2015 Deer Valley Music Festival Emerging Quartets and Composers Workshop to work with the Muir Quartet and composer Joan Tower. Fall 2015, Denovo toured to St. Louis, MO to perform in concert, outreach, and to study with the Ariana Quartet. Denovo was also featured in a special collaboration with members of the Alcyon Chamber Ensemble for performances at Harvard Business School and the Westford Parish Center for the Arts.
Ms. Arnold is a Suzuki method certified instructor and taught on the faculty at the South Shore Conservatory from 2010-2014. She was previously on the faculty of the Aurora School of Music in Ohio. She has taught privately since 2002, and is currently Suzuki faculty at the Winchester Community Music School in Winchester, MA, and offers private lessons in Arlington, MA.
