A Native of Belém do Pará, Brazil, Luciana Arraes has studied with Katie Lansdale, Elizabeth Chang, Nikolai Kith, Evguene Ratchev, Maria Constança de Almeida Prado and Pablo de León. She has been a member of several orchestras in Brazil and internationally has been part of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), The World Orchestra (Spain), Orchestre de la Francophonie (Canada). Luciana is a graduate from YOA’s “Global Leaders” social entrepreneur training program and is the founder of “Projeto Cururu”, a social project in its 12th year that teaches music and arts to underprivileged children in Belém do Pará.
Dr. Arraes was in the Suzuki Violin and Viola Faculty at The Hartt School Community Division at the University of Hartford and at the Kent School for three years. Together with her husband, pianist Jonathan Moyer, she is part of the Arraes-Moyer duo and concertizes often across the U.S. and Brazil.
Luciana Arraes holds a DMA in Violin Performance from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, a Master’s in violin performance from the University of Massachusetts –Amherst and a Bachelor’s degree in violin from the University of São Paulo. She is a Suzuki-certified violin teacher, having done the long-term training at The Hartt School of Music, with Teri Einfeldt. She has also done additional training with Alen Lieb, Christie Felsing, Pat D’Ecole, Ann Montzka-Smelser and Mark Mutter.
She is currently lives in Brasília where she is a violinist of the Claudio Santoro National Theater Symphony Orchestra in addition to having the Aquarela Violin and Piano Suzuki studio with her husband, Suzuki Piano Teacher, Jonathan Moyer.
