Dr. Lora Gubanov, NCTM

Lora Gubanov received her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Memphis in May of 2016. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2011. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Music at LeMoyne-Owen College and the founder of Memphis Music Studio in Memphis, Tennessee.
Some of her distinguished awards include 1st place winner of Tennessee’s MTNA State Piano Competition in 2006, Celebration of Excellence Competition winner in 2007, University of Tennessee Concerto Competition winner in 2007, recepient of Full Assistanship in teaching Class Piano at the University of Memphis in 2011, finalist at The University of Memphis Soloist Competition in 2013, and a participant in the Wideman International Piano Competition in Shreveport, LA in 2014. Some of the summer programs she has attended include Bosendorfer Piano Festival in Vienna, Austria in the summer of 2008 and InterHarmony Music Festival in Birklehof, Germany in 2010. In the summer of 2018, she joined the faculty of the  East/West International Piano Festival in Shenzhen, China, were she taught private and chamber music. Most recently, she taught in Seoul, South Korea, where she also performed as part of the Chiara Piano Duo. She is a U.S. nationally certified teacher of music and a member of the Music Teachers National Association, National Guild of Piano Teachers, and Suzuki Association of the Americas.
