Lizzy Pedersen has been playing violin since the age of 3. She started in the Suzuki system with Mihoko Hirata, then studied with Irv Eisenberg of the Philadelphia String Quartet. She continued her studies with Emma McGrath, now concertmaster of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. After that she continued on to the University of Colorado Boulder, where she studied with Lina Bahn and briefly with Edward Dusinberre of the Takacs Quartet. She holds a B.A. in Music from the University of Colorado Boulder, and is a registered Suzuki teacher for Books 1-6.

Lizzy believes that any person can learn to play violin, as long as they are willing to put in the effort. She has been teaching violin sporadically since 2009 and seriously since 2018. Her interests are not limited to classical violin, and expand into the Balkan folk music genre. She spent several years as a part of the band Kafana Republik in the Seattle area, and now plays with Învârtim and Orkestar RTW. Lizzy’s students have ranged in age from 5 to 76, and she delights in the interest and challenge of teaching students diverse in age. Lizzy is now based out of Woodinville, WA.
