Lizzy Pedersen has been playing violin since the age of 3. Lizzy started in the Suzuki system with Mihoko Hirata, then studied with Irv Eisenberg of the Philadelphia String Quartet. Lizzy continued studies with Emma McGrath, now concertmaster of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. After that Lizzy continued on to the University of Colorado Boulder, where they studied with Lina Bahn and briefly with Edward Dusinberre of the Takacs Quartet. Finally, Lizzy has taken a few lessons with Zachary Carrettin and Tekla Cunningham. Lizzy holds a B.A. in Music from the University of Colorado Boulder, and is a registered Suzuki teacher for Books 1-4. Lizzy believes that any person can learn to play violin, as long as they are willing to put in the effort. Lizzy has been teaching violin sporadically since 2009 and seriously since 2018. Lizzy’s interests are not limited to classical violin, and expand into both the baroque world and the folk music genre. Lizzy specializes in Bulgarian folk music. Lizzy spent several years as a part of the band Kafana Republik in the Seattle area. Lizzy’s students have ranged in age from 5 to 76. Lizzy delights in the interest and challenge of teaching students diverse in age. Lizzy is now based out of Woodinville, WA.
