Born in China, Dr. Liang Liang started playing piano at the age of six. During her childhood, Liang was often encouraged to play in concerts, which provided numerous stage experiences for her. At the age of 10, she was invited to perform in several U.S. west coast cities. After childhood piano studies, she received advanced training at the China Conservatory of Music, where she studied for seven years: three preparatory years and four years of bachelor’s studies.

After departing China, Liang began her graduate study in the United States. She holds master and doctoral degrees in piano performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she studied with pianist James Tocco and earned a cognate in piano pedagogy under the guidance of Dr. Michelle Conda. She also gained valuable insights from her solo and chamber work with great masters including Peter Frankl, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Leon Fleisher, Boris Slutsky, Yehuda Hanani, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Soyeon Kate Lee, and Michael Chertock.

Liang now works as a soloist, chamber musician, and piano educator. She has presented workshops, master classes, and lectures/recitals—both nationally and internationally—on topics such as “The Art of Piano Recital Programming,” “Performer’s Tips to Avoid Stage Fright,” and “The Art of Ornamentations.” Before moving to Massachusetts, she taught piano lessons and group classes at the University of Cincinnati in the Keyboard Division and at the Community Music School attached to the University of Delaware. She is passionate about teaching, and about forging relationships with her students. Her down-to-earth personality—along with professional classroom presentation and communication skills—enables students to explore their musical talent while building a sense of confidence.

Liang joined the piano faculty at Winchester Community Music School in 2019 and currently lives in Massachusetts with her husband and their two children.
