Leslie Alperin moved to Albuquerque from Chapel Hill, NC where she was a well-loved and respected teacher of cello, early childhood music and movement classes, and string orchestra and small ensembles. Her cello choir, the Red Hot ‘Celli Peppers, was a local favorite for years.

Leslie graduated from the University of Michigan in 1971, and has been a player and teacher all her adult life. She has taught in the public schools as well as in her home studio, and has been an active musician wherever she’s lived, including California, Alaska, North Carolina, and Viet Nam. She now enjoys making music in New Mexico, where she has an active cello studio, coaches strings ensembles at festivals and in public schools, and plays at the UNM Cancer Center.

Leslie has completed Suzuki cello teacher training levels ECC, 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 7, and 8 over the past 25 years.
