Leah Holbrook started her violin journey under Suzuki teacher Mircea Ionescu at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center when she was 11 years old. She then went on to study with the University of Louisville’s former violin professor Brittany MacWilliams and well-known Louisville orchestra member Cheri Kelley. Throughout high school Leah Holbrook was a student at the Seminary String Academy and the Oldham County Schools Arts Center participating in orchestras and ensembles. She annually attended Kentucky Christian String Camp where she was taught by chamber teachers and orchestra conductors such as Sam Meade, Neal Green, Daniel Spurlock, Cheri Kelley, and Fred Speck.

Leah is currently studying under Jane Halliday at Bellarmine University (Jane Halliday is a jazz/folk musician who has played with well known artists such as Josh Groban and Stevie Wonder), where she is refining her technique and building her classical repertoire in Bellarmine University ‘s Preparatory Music program. Leah also plays for weddings and gigs in Louisville and the surrounding areas.

In January 2023 Leah accepted a position at Sacred Heart School for the Arts to help build their strings program from the ground up. Leah teaches all ages through the SHSA where her youngest student is 3 years old. She also has a growing studio in Oldham and Henry County.

Leah has a passion for teaching and growing students by showing them the why and how of practicing and playing music from the private lesson to the performance hall. She teaches using aspects of the Suzuki method and is certified with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Leah’s Christian faith is very important to her as a musician and teacher and she loves playing hymns, church music, and worship music with her family, friends, and students.

Leah calls Henry County, KY her home where she lives with her family and enjoys training her horse, Brandi. She is also working on a bachelors in Business Administration from Campbellsville University where she will graduate in May 2024.
