Laurie Illions Rodriguez

Laurie Illions Rodriguez teaches violin in the Northern Illinois University Suzuki Strings Program. She has a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University. She has been teaching violin lessons since 1991 in Utah, Ohio, and now Illinois, and has been directing and coaching chamber music workshops since 1997. She was the founder and director of the Utah County Youth Chamber Music Workshop, and is the director and coach of the String Chamber Music Summer Camp for the NIU Community School of the Arts. She has been teaching early childhood musicianship classes since 2002, first at the Suzuki Music Center of Central Ohio and now at the NIU Community School . She performs with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra and a local chamber music group. She lives in DeKalb, and enjoys playing music with her husband and children.
