Pianist, Laurie Hudicek holds a doctorate in performance from The University of Maryland. She has studied with some of the world’s finest pedagogues as well as participated in and run masterclasses with internationally known contemporary musicians and composers.

Dr. Hudicek focuses on the performance of 20th Century Music, especially the works of American composers. Her performances have been regarded as “engaging” and “remarkable for thoughtfulness and expression” (21st Century Music), and she has also been described as a “vivid” and “virtuoso” performer (The Washington Post). With her work in contemporary music, Dr. Hudicek has won several awards including a top prize in the Crane Festival of New Music National Solo Performers Competition (1995). She was a fellow at the Annual Institute for Contemporary Music Performance in Buffalo, NY (1995). She has premiered works by Dary John Mizelle, Sean Hickey, Steve Hilmey, Francis McKay, and Steve Antosca.

Dr. Hudicek has been teaching for over 25 years. She teaches both Suzuki method and traditional method as well a theory. She is experienced with very beginning young students as well as advanced students preparing for competitions and college auditions. Many of her advanced students go on to fine colleges and graduate schools in music and other areas.

Dr. Hudicek also participates in the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program. She has prepared students for assessments from the introductory level to Level 8. She also prepares students for the theory assessment as well.

Dr. Hudicek lives with her Guitarist husband, Eric Ulreich who is also a Suzuki instructor, as well as her two children, a violinist and a sax player, and three very friendly and curious cats.
