Laura “Laurita” Jáuregui, a Mexican-American, began her Suzuki violin studies at age five then later at sixteen began teaching with the support of her mother, a Suzuki piano teacher. She received her B.M. from Portland State University, under Carol Sindell. Her professional career began in Mexico with the Jalisco State Philharmonic and the Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara. She is formerly a member of the Vancouver Symphony and an SAA bi-lingual instructor. As an advocate of the Mexico Suzuki movement, she has taken students from her native Oregon to several Suzuki Institutes in Mexico. She was the Assistant Director of the Oregon Suzuki Institute for 7 years. Currently is a member of the Oregon Suzuki Association.
