Laura has been an active part of the Colorado Suzuki community since before she was 4 years old, when she began violin lessons with Ellie Albers LeRoux in Longmont. She also fell in love with the harp and began studying with Mary Kay Waddington at the age of 8. By the age of 10, Laura progressed enough to move to the prestigious violin studio of James Maurer. In addition to private lessons, she also participated in many youth symphonies, institutes, workshops and Suzuki group opportunities throughout the state, during her musical upbringing. As if the violin and harp didn’t keep her busy enough, she also found time to briefly study the piano and play the clarinet and saxophone in her school much programs.

Laura attended the University of Denver for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Performance. During her studies at DU, she also received her Suzuki violin training from James Maurer as well as general Suzuki instruction from Carol Tarr. She graduated summa cum laude and received many awards during her studies, including Most Outstanding Junior recital, Most Outstanding Undergraduate in Performance and membership to the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society for scholastic and musical achievement.

When she is not teaching Suzuki violin and harp lessons, Laura can often be found performing around the community and as Concertmaster of the Littleton Symphony. She also loves spending as much time as she can with her family, including her four little boys.
