Kristen Wojcik joined the cello section of the Washington National Opera and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra in 2012 after being appointed the position by Maestro Philippe Auguin. An accomplished orchestral, chamber music and solo player, Kristen has performed in countless premier venues around the world including The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Tanglewood’s Seiji Ozawa Hall, the Salzburg Festival’s Great Festival Hall and the Konzerthaus Berlin. Kristen earned both her bachelor and master degrees at the Juilliard School where she studied with Fred Sherry and Darrett Adkins. During a semester abroad, Kristen had the opportunity to study with French cellists Roland Pidoux and Xavier Phillips at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. Kristen has collaborated with a multitude of internationally-renowned musicians including members of the Juilliard String Quartet, members of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra and New York Philharmonic, Christoph Eschenbach, Emmanuel Ax, Alan Gilbert, William Christie, Nicholas McGegan, the Borromeo String Quartet, Matt Haimovitz, and Gilbert Kalish. Kristen currently lives in Washington, DC.
