Mrs. Krista Lane has been teaching with the Suzuki method since 2012 and has been playing violin since she was nine. She has an extensive background in working with children and adults of all ages in many different capacities, and has a Bachelor of Music Education from The University of Kansas. She began taking Suzuki violin lessons in Colorado at age nine and continued taking Suzuki lessons with Carolyn Sandquist in Topeka, Kansas until college. Since 2015 she has taken the Every Child Can course and completed training for Suzuki Violin Units 1, 2, 3, and 4 with teacher trainers Susan Kempter, Beth Titterington, Nancy Lokken, and Roger Stieg, respectively. She has taken Suzuki Principles in Action & Violin Unit 5 with Beth Titterington and has also taken supplementary courses with James Hutchins and Daina Staggs. For seven years Krista played in the Topeka Symphony Youth Ensembles, and in high school also assisted the Topeka Symphony Debut Orchestra. While at KU for four years she studied violin with Dr. Veronique Mathieu and Dr. David Colwell and was part of the 1st and 2nd violin sections in the KU Symphony Orchestra. During the 2021-2023 school years she taught violin classes at an after school string program at St. Mary’s Academy in St. Mary’s Kansas. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), and the Heart of America Suzuki Association (HASA). Krista frequently leads music at her church and performs in her family’s band. She enjoys playing in a variety of genres including classical, fiddle, country, jazz, and celtic.
