Kirsty Thornton, born and raised in Northern California, has been playing the violin for 20 years. She recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music: Violin Performance where she studied with Alex Woods. While at BYU, she played with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and Baroque Ensemble. She traveled and performed in various places in the United States and around the world with BYU’s Chamber Orchestra. Teaching is Kirsty’s passion. She has been teaching individual violin students for 5 years and had the opportunity to share her love of music and teach violin in Bolivia as part of a BYU internship. Her goal is to help develop individual character and a love of music in all her students. In her free time, Kirsty enjoys baking, reading, and playing games with her family.
