Kevin Brown is originally from Winnipeg, MB, Canada. He began playing the guitar at age 7 with his uncle Peter Ulrich. Before moving to the USA in 2006, he studied guitar with some of Winnipeg’s finest guitarists/guitar instructors including: Larry Roy, Willie Wiebe, David Letkemann and Patrick Lussier. Kevin graduated from Wheaton College in 2009 with a BM in guitar performance. While he was there he studied with Stephen Ramsdell. Kevin then went on to complete an MM in Jazz Studies at DePaul University in Chicago, IL with an emphasis in Jazz Composition and Arranging.
Though he has been teaching private guitar lessons since 2002, Kevin began studying and teaching the Suzuki method in the summer 2011. His Suzuki teacher training primarily has been with MaryLou Roberts. In 2011 he started the Suzuki guitar program at the Wheaton College Community School for the Arts, which he currently maintains as it grows. Brown also now directs the Northern Illinois Suzuki Guitar Institute in Glen Ellyn, IL.
