Kelly McConkie Stewart is a native of Salt Lake City. After graduating from Utah State University, Kelly attended the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in New York where she earned a master’s degree in cello performance. She studied with Julia Lichten of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Peter Wiley of the Guarneri String Quartet. While living in New York, Kelly also did an additional year of study at the Juilliard School of Music. Later, as an active musician in the Washington, D.C. area, she played with such notable groups as the Kennedy Center’s Washington National Opera, the National Philharmonic and the D.C. Philharmonic. Here in Utah, Kelly has performed with of the Orchestra at Temple Square, the Utah Festival Opera, the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra and taught adjunct at Utah State University from 2009-2010. Kelly currently maintains a private cello studio and is part of the cello faculty in downtown Salt Lake’s Gifted Music School.
