Violin, Viola, Suzuki in the Schools Teacher
Katie McCown began playing the violin in 4th grade through the Suzuki Method. She fell in love with music and decided after that year that she would become a Suzuki teacher. Throughout Jr.High and High School Katie continued playing music in her school orchestra as well as playing both violin and viola in the Fort Worth Youth Orchestra and chamber ensembles.
Katie has recently graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s of Music Education. While at Sam Houston, she participated as a teacher in the Huntsville Youth Orchestra serving as a conductor, instructor, private lesson teacher and private lesson coordinator. Katie also taught private violin/viola lessons in Klein ISD during her time in college. Katie is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity in which she received the Sword of Honor award. She is also a member of the SAA, North Texas Suzuki Association and the Texas Music Educators Association.
